再过一个星期就是圣诞节，我没什么特别的圣诞庆祝计划。在我印象中，除了几次与友人聚餐交换礼物，二十多年来我的圣诞节过得挺平凡无味的。家人亲友大多不是基督徒，通常都只是到外头图个圣诞节气氛，没有固定的庆祝方式。难得这一次有机会参与Novotel Kuala Lumpur City Centre 酒店举办的圣诞节感恩夜，还邀请在大马缅甸难民小孩关爱团体My Myanmar Refugee Children - United Learning Centre一起参与圣诞晚宴，让我过了非一般的感恩节日。

Christmas is coming in just 1 week and yet I do not have any plan for this year Christmas celebration. For me, Christmas celebration is just gathering with a bunch of friends and have gifts exchanged. Since I’m not a Christian, I do not have any specific way of celebration. It’s just going out there and enjoys the atmosphere that full of Christmas feel. I’m so happy that I had been invited by Novotel Kuala LumpurCity Centre to attend a Christmas appreciation event. They also invite children from My Myanmar Refugee Children - United Learning Centre along to join the dinner. This is such meaningful and memorable night in my life.

圣诞节晚餐就像我们华人农历新年围炉传统一样，全家老少在平安夜一起齐聚吃一顿晚餐。世界各地的圣诞风俗可能会大相径庭，但烤火鸡却是此类晚餐的共同点，烹煮方式可能不同，其传统意义却相同。

Christmas Eve is nothing different that Chinese New Year eve, where the whole family gathers together and has dinner together. There were many different buffet or set dinner offered out there, but there will be similar dishes which are turkey. The entire restaurant out there will cook it differently and prepare a great dinner to all of you. 大马缅甸孩童关爱团体负责人发表谈话时说了一句很深刻的话：「这群小孩不是在公园里奔跑玩乐，他们是在艰难生活中用力的往前奔跑（They are not running in the park, they are running for their life）」。我们无法想象他们的经历与身世——流浪异地，成长在恶劣的学习与生活环境，衣食住行都只是靠一群自愿人士的供给与捐助，还需要坚强地面对国籍无法被承认，人口与毒品贩卖，甚至器官盗卖种种社会问题。

当下看到大家放下手机，专注聆听负责人说话时，我挺感动的，也很高心被邀请参与，当节庆被赋予新的一层社会关怀意义，引起大家关心面对困境的弱势团体时，便带出了晚宴的背后意义。

The person in charge of Myanmar Refugee Children - UnitedLearning Centre said a very memorable quote which is “They are not running in the park, they are running for their life.”We can’t imagine what the children had gone through it their life. They was not recognize by their country, faced with trafficking, being forced to sell their organs and do not have to chance to go to school and have proper education. They just depend of those kind people out there to donate some basic necessities for them.

At the moment, everyone put aside their mobile phone and listen carefully to what the person in charge said. I’m quite touching yet happy that I’m being invited to such a meaningful event. This will be in my memory forever. Christmas is just not celebrating with your family; it is also the time that you help those people who need it in this season of love.

那天晚上躺在床上准备休息时，这句话还不断在房间里回荡着。我记得有两位年龄较大的男孩与女孩站在前排，带领同伴歌唱，男孩伴着音乐挥手延长，不过眼眶泛着泪光，看了让人特别心疼，仿佛那首歌唤起他童年的记忆，走马灯似地一遍遍回放回去。灯光下两颗清澈的双眸藏着不言而喻的生活，我无以为报，当下能做的只是给予微笑的鼓励，还有发自内心的掌声。

那晚孩子们为我们唱歌，也为自己歌唱：唱着节庆的歌颂，唱着希望的祝福。

I still remember that night after I came back from the event, the quote was repeating in my mind for quite some time. The night was just full of memories. Those kids singing Christmas song together as a performance. I just feel that we should appreciate what we have at the moment and feel bless with it. Good job all the kids that make the performance that night.That night they sing for us. For me, they sing for themselves too. Full of love, bless and hope.

Malaysia is a multicultural country where different races celebrate all the festival together. Christmas is among the most popular celebration for youngster even though they are not Christian. Nowadays, Christmas is being commercialized which is not a bad things, but we still need to know the true meaning of celebrating Christmas. For most of us out there, Christmas is just a season that all the streets was decorated with lights and ornaments, Christmas song played in malls, attend lots of party and so on. It loses the true meaning of celebrating Christmas.

In this festive season, we should not forget to give back and also remind people that true meaning of celebration Christmas. Appreciate your friends and family. Bring them to enjoy a great dinner. 晚宴过后，Mike给我发了一封窝心的留言 After Dinner, Mike sent me a massage:

“It’s a wonderful night spends with Kim and the rest at Novotel kl. The food there arrange in such a way that is convenient to take. There have a lot of choices of food from main dishes to dessert. I like the naked turkey, which usually will include in the main menu of thanksgiving party because I seldom have a chance to eat turkey except thanks giving party. I like dessert, like macaroon, chocolate, ice-cream, pudding... It is not too sweet but sweet enough to release my stress after whole day working.

For the performance, it is really nice performance from kids from United Learning Centre, the kids are cute. The speech from Ms Mink is touching and meaningful, we should thankful for whatever we have and share our love to them especially to those who need it. Appreciate with whatever given by Novotel kl and Kim for invitation to accompany to join this meaningful event. It is a wonderful and memorable night.”
